Thirsty Christmas in Mmatshumu

Residents of Mmatshumu woke up to a dry and thirsty Christmas Day as there was no running potable water in their households.
All their planned festivities dealt a heavy blow on Christmas Eve when reality struck that water was not available in the village.
But thanks to the heavy rains that poured few days before Christmas, residents had no option but to fetch water from a nearby pond, otherwise one had to drive as far as Letlhakane or Mosu to fetch water.
In one instance, the Ntshekisang family, who had planned a massive family gathering, had to improvise by drawing water from a nearby borehole.
Mr Keletso Ntshekisang said their extended family gathering was held annually alternating from one household to the other and had proved to be key in strengthening family ties. ENDS
