Hospitals welcome babies

Giving birth to a child on Christmas Day must be a wonderful gift. And, for a first time mother, Ms Tsapelo Gaebolae (24) of Lecheng, giving birth to daughter, Lindiwe was the best Christmas present ever.

Speaking a few minutes after giving birth at Palapye Primary Hospital, Ms Gaebolae said she was looking forward to enjoying motherhood.

“We are very happy to have a Christmas baby. Baby Lindiwe is very special,” said principal registered nurse, Ms Kebaabetswe Seane. Nevertheless, the hospital was blessed with four babies on Christmas Day and nine on Christmas Eve. Daughter Lindiwe was among a dozen babies born on Christmas Day in the maternity units of different hospitals around the country. 

Princess Marina hospital welcomed 13 babies, three were born at Bokamoso Private hospital, eight at Letsholathebe in Maun, 11 at Nyangabgwe in Francistown and five in Mahalapye. By noon on Christmas Day, Scottish Livingstone, Deborah Retief Memorial and Athlone hospitals had received five, one and two babies respectively.
