BOCCIM official applauds Botho University

Botswana Confederation of Commerce, Industry and Manpower(BOCCIM), regional manager for north, Mr Letus Chinyepi has applauded Botho University for its initiatives such as career fair aimed at familiarising graduates with the working environment.
Speaking at the grand opening of the recruitment and career fair, Mr Chinyepi said the annual career fair enables graduates to have great knowledge of career paths they want to venture into.
He appealed to Botho University to continue having such initiatives that will help graduates be equipped with much information about the corporate world. Mr Chinyepi noted that Botho University shows that they care about the products as they offer them opportunities into the corporate world.
He said that Botho University is one of the leading Information Technology (IT) training schools in Botswana and offer excellent opportunities for graduates through initiatives such as career fair.
Furthermore, he said Botho University offers a wide range of programmes such as information technology, which has become a very important and pivotal aspect of organisations as technology is now marketable in the industry.
He mentioned that IT is not yet a saturated career path that students can venture into and be able to make a leaving out of as employees or entrepreneurs.
Mr Chinyepi further appealed to the organizations to kindly absorb as many graduates as possible since most youth in Francistown are unemployed.
Also speaking at the career fair, Botho University pro-vice chancellor and director of employability and development, Ms Priya Iyer said that the university’s mandate is to create initiatives geared at involving the graduates on strategies to find employment after graduating from their University.
She said that the university has also given graduates opportunities to benchmark also in the international industry through the internship programme.
Ms Iyer said that they already have nine graduates who are working in India so as to get greater knowledge of the industry and also get skills that they can come back and use in the country to diversify the economy. ENDS
